Description:

Maya Beach is at the northern end of the Placencia peninsula, a bustling little area now home to several new resorts and restaurants. Six comfortable thatched cabanas lining this beach compose Singing Sands Inn, each decorated in wood furnishings. One or two beds, a ceiling fan and private bath are also part of this tropical concerto. A covered porch overlooks the landscaped grounds with luxuriant flowers and palm-lined beach. A one-bedroom beach house is also available, a perfect location for honeymooners and families

Singing Sands Inn staff will assist with flight reservations and logistics during your stay, which takes a lot of hassle out of getting there. They recommended the scenic flight to Placencia (aboard a regularly scheduled 12-seat plane) from wherever you are in Belize, as the roads in this part of the country are not paved. Rental vehicles are available, and a 4-wheel drive is the thing to do. The dirt roads have some treacherous potholes and are quite dusty when it's dry and a quagmire when wet.

Activities are endless in this Eco-traveler dream destination. From the central coastal location local guides lead excursions to visit Mayan ruins, the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, and Monkey River, or try your hand at fishing on the reef. A favorite pastime is bird watching in the mangrove lagoon or out on neighboring cays. By canoe explore the sparkling shoreline or a lagoon to see the shy manatee. Bikes are on hand for guests to see the sights on their own.

The new freshwater swimming pool, 40-feet in length, adds yet another activity to enjoy at Singing Sands Inn. For those that prefer a �deep experience,� the diving in southern Belize is touted as some of the best in the world. It offers special wall and reef diving with the opportunity to see healthy coral, sponges, and brilliantly colored fish. You may even see a 25-foot spotted whale shark, a unique and exciting chance encounter in these teeming waters. And all of these activities can be orchestrated just for you by Singing Sands Inn.
